Memorial Day Reflection

Memorial Day weekend is often seen as the unofficial start of summer – a time for cookouts, road trips, and reconnecting with loved ones. But beyond the festivities, it’s also an opportunity to pause and reflect on the profound sacrifices made by those who gave their lives in service to our country. Taking this time to reflect on their legacy helps us live more intentionally, honoring their memory through our actions and values.

At the same time, this long weekend offers a chance to rest and recharge, a vital act of self-care that allows us to return to our lives with renewed purpose. In the spirit of honoring service, we can also serve ourselves and our communities better when we are mentally and physically refreshed. As the American Hospital Association notes, Memorial Day is a time to recognize not only the fallen but also the enduring spirit of service that connects us all.

Of course, not everyone gets a three-day weekend. You may be working or busy with other responsibilities. We hope you can find some time to simply catch your breath. Rest and remembrance allows us to carry it forward with strength and gratitude. Wishing you the best this weekend from our GSS team.
